~ Contra III instruction booklet description |
The Alien's Main Base (エイリアン本拠地 Eirian Honkyochi?, lit. "Alien Headquarters") is the sixth and final stage in Contra III: The Alien Wars.
Overview[]
The stage is set in the extraterrestrials' headquarters/Red Falcon's central base of operations.
The stage begins with relatively unobstructed corridors, although with numerous Orians roaming around. After traveling for a while, the player will be welcomed by none other than Java for a rematch of their first encounter; although unlike the previous game, Java has a help of Orians who will approach the player from all sides.
After defeating Java, the player has to travel through various platforms filled with Wadders and Orians, and avoid being fallen into the void. Then the player will enter a gauntlet boss fight against the final bosses of previous games, namely the Gomeramos King, Kimkoh, and the Metal Alien.
As the player gets past the three strong adversaries and reaches the top of the lair, Emperor Demon Gava awaits for their arrival to finish the fight once and for all.

Version differences[]
Contra: The Alien Wars[]
Due to hardware limitations, this Game Boy port of Contra III went through many changes, with this final stage having some of the most notable ones:
- The Gomeramos King and the Metal Alien minibosses from the original game don't appear in this version and instead each is replaced by another Java miniboss, for a total of three Javas that have to be defeated throughout this level.
- Due to the absence of the Metal Alien, the entire vertical section near the end of the stage that would lead to the final boss is also absent, making the overall structure of the level almost completely horizontally oriented.
- The boss music theme, "The Showdown", comprised of three parts and which each would play for each miniboss/boss, is also absent in this version, and instead the main background music, "Go Forward Under Fire", is played during all three Java miniboss fights, and the standard boss theme, "Bloody Storm", is played for the Kimkoh and Gava boss fights.
- The final boss, Gava, only appears in his standard form, and defeating him brings up the end of the game, regardless of the Difficulty level chosen, dismissing both the Searle and Six Men Feromedos final boss fights from the original game.

Trivia[]
- From the second half of this stage and up to near its end, what appears to be several brain-like organs with eyes resembling Searle, still in formation, can be seen in the backgrounds, possibly hinting at the aliens being caught in the process of creating an army of monsters like Searle (or even their Gava forms).
- In Contra III: The Alien Wars, after the battle with Searle concludes and the Contra helicopter appears, the heroes automatically jump on the dangling missile. However, in Contra Advance: The Alien Wars EX, the heroes do not automatically jump and the controlling player(s) must jump on the missiles themselves to advance to the end of the game.
