- For the character codenamed "Scorpion" in the American localization, see Lance Bean.
- Not to be confused with SC0RP1.
“ | Class: Sergeant. Code name: Scorpion. He is a hero who repelled Black Viper's first invasion along with Mad Dog. Even so, he has never forgotten the memories of the ugly aliens and their horrible invasion plans. Scorpion is a quiet and intelligent man, and once he's on the battlefield, he turns into a ruthless, wild warrior more than anyone else. His attack is sharp like a scorpion's stab, and has sent numerous aliens to hell with no exception.

~ Contra 4 translated official description |
Scorpion is a character in the Contra series. He is a commando, member of the Contra force, who made his debut as an individual character in Contra 4.
Background[]
According to Contra 4ʼs partially re-written chronology of Contra, Scorpion first appeared in Operation C alongside his friend Mad Dog. (Note: Mad Dog and Scorpion were originally the American codenames for Bill Rizer and Lance Bean, respectively. Moreover, Scorpion's appearance was based on Lance Bean's in the arcade version of Super Contra.)
Appearances[]
Operation C[]
Although it is unclear whether it was Scorpion or Mad Dog in the role of the playable character, Operation C lets the player control a character in all-green clothes (like Mad Dog) and slightly tan skin (like Scorpion). He wears a black headband and has somewhat cropped, blond hair (like Bill Rizer). The English instruction booklet and its box cover's summary state that it was "Corporal Lance" under the code name "Scorpion" who infiltrated the front lines to eliminate Black Viper.
This information may be considered non-canon, as the Database in Contra: Shattered Soldier specifically uses the original Japanese storyline of Operation C in all regions the former game was released in.
Contra 4[]
In Contra 4, Scorpion wears bluish-purple military pants with a red bandanna. He appears to be of Hispanic descent, as indicated by both his skin color and appearance in the manga.
Quotes and sounds[]
- "Come get some!"
- "Let's party!"
- "Lock and load"
- "Locked and loaded!"
- "Take 'em out."
- Defeated

Trivia[]
- Scorpion's appearance from Contra 4 is likely based on Jorge "Poncho" Ramirez from the 1987 guerrilla/science fiction-themed action film Predator (a film that strongly inspired the Contra series). In the film, Poncho was a courageous and sarcastic soldier commando with both a strong determination and composure among Dutch's team. During the climax, Poncho was officially the last human victim of the Predator.
- In an earlier build of Contra 4, Scorpion and Lance Bean swapped names (meaning Scorpion was wearing the red pants attire while Lance was under Scorpion's purple pants attire).
- A Probotector unit from Contra: Operation Galuga uses the serial model number SC0RP1, a reference to the name Scorpion. This Probotector also appears alongside model M4D-0G, a name referencing Scorpion's partner Mad Dog.
