The National Entertainment Collectibles Association Inc., mostly known by its acronym NECA, is an American manufacturer of collectibles typically licensed from films, video games, sports, music, and television based in New Jersey. The company was founded in 1996 and has over 60 licenses for which it produces products.
In 2002, "NECA's Reel Toys" was formed as a division to produce toys, action figures and dolls that are targeted towards action figure and toy enthusiasts. They are intended for teens and adults as collectibles for many licenses that no other company would market as a toy.
On September 14, 2009, they announced acquisition of the WizKids assets from Topps, for the collectible miniature Clix games and Pocketmodel games.
Contra products released by NECA[]
Contra[]
In 2016, NECA released a "Contra" box to pay tribute to the NES version of the original Contra. The package included two 7″ tall and fully articulated action figures of Bill Rizer and Lance Bean with "pixelated" paint deco (these figures erroneously have their colors switched, with Bill wearing red pants and Lance wearing blue pants, opposite to how they appear in the game). The set also included custom-designed weapons based on the classic game, with detachable stand blast effects to simulate fire by weapons like the Machine Gun and the Spread Gun. It also included a Power-up Capsule with a clear support stand for a "floating" effect. The product's special window box packaging recreated the look of a classic NES game cartridge.[1]
