Major Lance Bean is one of the primary protagonists of Contra: Operation Galuga.

He was voiced by Alejandro Saab.

History[]

Operation Galuga[]

Lance is first seen alongside his war brother Bill Rizer inside a chopper heading toward the island of Galuga. They are being briefed on the current situation on the island that HQ detected: strange energy readouts and massive movement from Red Falcon forces stationed at the base. Furthermore, the GX Army was sent in but have not been heard back from, leading to the Contra Unit to send its best two commandos onto the island and investigate the incident.

Once on the island, Bill and Lance pass through treacherous terrain and blast their way through massive enemy forces uncovering bit by bit just what kind of situation they've gotten themselves into. Lance is able to make good on their mission by "hacking" into a Red Falcon Base's data hub.

Appearance and personality[]

A serious yet cool Major-rank soldier wearing red pants, black combat boots, weapon bandolier and red bandanna, while also appearing shirtless. He is an elite commando serving under the Contra Unit led by Doyle and with assistance.

Gameplay[]

Like many previous incarnations before him, Lance is meant to be the default Player 2 choice for gameplay. He possesses basic skills and no unique special weaponry or initial abilities, being capable of performing basic Dashing and Double Jumping functions. His exclusive Spirit/Perk increases his double jump height. His icon color is red.

This is currently the latest incarnation of Lance Bean made for the Contra series. Although he resembles the original timeline's Lance in many ways, the former possesses a few differences from the latter Lance:

In the Contra: Operation Galuga Character Reveal trailer, one instance of his name is incorrectly spelled as "Beam, Lance".
Lance's bullet strap swaps positions whenever he turns, likely due to having mirrored sprite angles.
Lance makes a guest appearance as a playable character in the "Operation Guns" DLC of the roguelike shoot 'em up game, Vampire Survivors.
