This iteration of John Connor appears to be based on his appearance in Terminator Genisys, as noted by his entrance within the Character Select and the metallic blade he wields. In the film, he was captured by the Terminators and fused with nanomachines, giving him powers similar to the T-1000, though he declares himself to be more than both a man and machine. John Connor in the film was portrayed by actor Jason Clarke.
