The Cyber Gator is an enemy in Hard Corps: Uprising. It is a large robotic alligator with powerful jaws deployed by the Commonwealth forces in swamp areas.

Description[]

A black gator with red eyes. This Commonwealth robot lurks within the jungle region. It casually idles itself until a passerby is near, then it attempts to ferociously bite them with its large maw. It cares not if one of their human troops pass by, for they will chomp down on them hard. The gators possess somewhat durable armor but are easily taken out with concentrated weapons fire. Gators can only face leftward; they will not turn around if someone is directly behind them.

Cyber Gators also appear within the swamp and water sections of the jungle. Inside the water, they swim their bodies upward with their maw wide open for prey to munch on. The elite heroes may sometimes need to use these gators to cross through the water area. Gators will be lined in a row; the heroes must jump on top of an open maw and quickly jump/double jump to the next maw before the landed one closes in on them, eventually gator hopping until they reach a safe surface to land on. A hero cannot land on a gator maw while it is closed or if the gator is in the middle of receiving damage. Gators will also attempt to eat any Commonwealth soldiers to hopelessly land on their maw. Cyber Gators can be eliminated like standard Cyber Gators, but in areas with swimming gators, eventually a destroyed gator will spawn a replacement moments later. This infinite amount of gator spawning is one good way to keep the Combo Meter refilled and for obtaining a good high Score or for CP farming.

Trivia[]

  • The need to jump on top of Cyber Gators to proceed may have been inspired by the 1982 platformer video game Pitfall!, which also features dark gators partially submerged underwater within a jungle setting, with only their heads peeking out on the surface, which the hero, Pitfall Harry, must jump over at the proper time to make it to the other side of the pond and not get eaten alive by them.
