In the game's Rising Mode, CP (Contra Points) are used to purchase various upgrades for characters. Each character has separate amounts of CP to obtain and spend, and each character has their own designated list even though some upgrades are identical between characters. CP is identical to Arcade Mode's Score, the only real difference is that while Score is mainly an aesthetic, CP becomes a "savable and spendable" Score.

Contra: Evolution[]

In the mobile versions of the game, there is an in-game currency system used to purchase various rewards. Gold and Diamonds are the two types of currencies, both of which can be instantly obtainable at any time via micro-transactions. Otherwise Gold can be obtained by simply clearing stages in arcade mode, while Diamonds are much more valuable and can primarily be obtained by levelling up, which may also grant Gold. Gold is used to buy several upgrades like the Attack up and bullet shield, while diamonds can be used for unlock special weapon and shield power-ups.

Contra: Rogue Corps[]

Credits are shown as a type of gold coin with a Falcon Symbol on menus and "real-world" stacks of cash and piles of gold coins and bars as physical pick-ups during Missions. They are obtainable in many Missions usually by random enemy drops and can also be obtained by selling unwanted inventory Equipment. Exploration Missions contain blue and gold loot crates that hide multiple piles of credits, and the higher difficult means the pile will be larger. Credits are saved in the player's inventory once a successful mission is accomplished. Receiving a Game Over means all credits obtained in that mission are lost. Credits can be spent on Weapon upgrades in the Workshop or on Body Parts in the Surgery Room's Black Market. In addition, various Body Parts can increase the appearance of random credits drops.

Some DLC content may offer a bonus amount of free Credits, allowing players to start the game with currency to spend in-game (usually 50,000 Credits per DLC applied). This can provide a helpful edge in Hardcore difficulty in that the player can use their Credits to purchase Workshop upgrades for weapons before starting the first mission.

Exclusive to the Carnage League is a type of currency called Carnage Coins. Carnage coins cany only be obtained in this pvp mode and can only be used to purchase Equipment or weapons from within the mode's Barbarian Shop.

Contra: Operation Galuga[]

If the player cleared the game's Demo before starting the full version of the game, the player is awarded currency to start with. Players are awarded a number of credits from each Stage Clear depending on Time and Score bonuses. If playing stages under the 1-hit kill setting, players are awarded an additional bonus amount of credits when clearing a stage. Clearing a Challenge for the first time awards Credits, and repeat clears are awarded less.
