The Carnage League is an optional online gameplay mode in Contra: Rogue Corps.
Description[]
A Player versus Player mode exclusively for online multiplayer. Aside from the standard game mode, there is also a "Rage" variant". Only two players minimum are needed to play any casual match, but for official ranking matches, 8 players total are needed.
Players can use this mode to earn Carnage Points, a currency exclusive to mode. Carnage Points can only be obtained in official 8 player matches. With Carnage Points, one can purchase a variety of Equipment parts available within the Barbarian Shop.
In matches, the only "enemies" aside from other players are "bugs" and Carnage Referees, the latter two are non-lethal to players and simply serve as a means of scoring. Some arenas offer obstacles to players. If a hero is downed, they have roughly six seconds before they respawn, and when they do, an explosion sets off on their downed body before respawning back to their starting position. Like with enemy and vehicle explosions, player explosions can prove quite lethal to remaining players on the battlefield. A downed hero can be picked up by another player and tossed into a Shredder for points, before the downed player explodes and respawns.
In Basic matches, the goal is to score as many points as possible. To do this, one must attack the walking bugs to get them into a Shredder positioned in the opposing team's side of the arena. When a bug is attacked, it turns into a rolling shape similar to a Devil Baby, which makes them more mobile. If a dash is used, they get "lit" on fire as them move and they move with much more speed and distance before stopping. In some arenas, bumpers may try to flick the "bug ball" away from a player's goal. Most areas are blocked by Red Axe posts and should be destroyed by weapons fire from opposing players wishing to score points. A Carnage Referee will occasionally pop up on the arena. These non-combatants can be killed by weapons fire but will yield no Score this way. They can however be stunned and once this is accomplished, they can be picked up and thrown into a Shredder for additional scoring. Once one Referee dies, another one drops from above to take the fallen Referee's place.
In Rage rules, the game plays out as a player vs. player Deathmatch.
Settings[]
Games can be set using Basic Rules or Rage rules under Private Matches. In addition, the host can set an additional rule setting (or select one at Random) which may influence the player's starting weaponry:
- Official Rules
- Anarchy
- This is considered the "anything goes" ruling. Players will have access to their Body Parts and Weapons equipped as if entering a Mission.
- Pyro X
- One Shot, One Kill

Trivia[]
- Several battlefields appear to be the same as the first fighting arena in CON T.U.B.E.. This suggests that the Carnage League and CON T.U.B.E. share the same location.
- In the Game Guide menu, Pyro X is typed as Pyro XXX.
- The head of Big Fuzz/a blue armored Red Axe is displayed in the top-center of the scoreboard during games.
- During this game mode, blue Red Axe appear on posts meant to block access to the blue team's goal. These "Blue Axe" are also seen in CON T.U.B.E. (which is also set in the same location as the Carnage League) and in Chaos Finale.
- In the "Stadium"/CON T.U.B.E. arenas, a detailed design of a shadowy Emperor Demon Gava can be spotted on the floor. The design is based on the boss's sprite from Contra III: The Alien Wars, and there are two of these designs in total: one shadow is present in front of each Team's goal. This design is obscured in the Hardcore Mission due to walls covering the goal areas.
- If a player character ends up inside a Shredder (either by being tossed in or walking into an open Shredder in one map), when that player character dies, they spew purple blood and guts in an identical manner as the Fiends. It is unexplained as to why the human characters share the Fiend's "death by shredder" detail. One possibility could be due to the Rogue Corps being equipped with Body Parts from dropped Fiends (although this may still occur with the default Body Parts applied). Gameplay wise, it is possible this detail was done purposefully as to avoid heavy gore references.
