The Bat is a creature seen in the Contra series.
Description[]
A flying rodent that dwells inside dark places, most commonly inside ruins. They tend to travel in small groups.

C: The Contra Adventure[]
Bats fly around the inside of the Mayan temple, but they do not appear to harm the player at all. They can be shot at, however, eventually destroying them.
Hard Corps: Uprising[]
This time appearing as a harmful enemy, Bats live inside the dark caves and halls of the Ruins area. It hangs from the ceiling upside-down until a heroic traveler draws near. It then takes flight from above and slowly soars horizontally near the heroes. At times, it stops to fire from its mouth a sonic screech aimed diagonally downward. This sound wave bounces off any surfaces it comes in contact with and can be reflected back at the bat. The Bat is relatively weak, easily dying to any sort of weapon fire, including its own reflected sound wave.
