Labyrinth Fortress (迷路要塞 Meiro Yōsai?) is a music theme originally composed by Hidenori Maezawa for Contra. It is the background theme for the two pseudo 3D "Base" stages. Arrangements of this theme have appeared on other third person over-the-shoulder "Base" stages in later installments.

- In the Commodore 64 and ZX Spectrum versions of Gryzor, "Labyrinthine Fortress 1" is the default background theme for the entire game (except for the title screen) and plays during all stages and boss fights.
- A heavily revamped version of this track later appeared in Contra 4.
- In Contra Returns, there are several different remixes of this theme.
- The theme "Let's Get this Done" from Contra: Operation Galuga contains excerpts from "In a Tight Squeeze" (originally from Super Contra); notably, the rising melody in the second half of the original track, and the opening (which is melodically blended with its "Labyrinth Fortress" counterpart).
- The theme "Inside Track" from the Contra: Operation Galuga Retro Remix contains "Labyrinth Fortress 2" from about the 3:50 mark; however, under normal circumstances this cannot be heard as the music cuts out when the (mid)boss appears, and the track restarts from the beginning after the mid-boss's defeat.
