The Bang Spike is a weapon in Contra: Rogue Corps.
Description[]
A weapon that can rapidly fire yellow spikes at a mid to sub-long ranges. When holding the FIRE button, spikes may fly at slight alternating angles. At close ranges, the spikes can impale onto enemies with direct hits. If the FIRE button is held when a spike is impaled, releasing the FIRE button or receiving an Overheat will cause all impaled spikes to explode, delivering additional damage. This makes the weapon one of the deadliest to use in Missions, eliminating fiends quickly, though very rarely will spikes not stick on enemies (such as on Damnation Pillars). Also, despite its looks, the weapon is limited at long ranges and may not always reach targets as intended. Explosions will not occur in Shooting Gallery Mode though there are very rare occasions that the weapon's effect is still applied under this viewpoint.
