All Stage Clear is a recurring music track featured in many titles from the Contra series. A variation of the "Stage Clear" theme, All Stage Clear plays at the end of the final stage, right after the game's final boss is defeated. Some games either lack this theme or simply play the normal "Stage Clear" theme instead. As its title implies, All Stage Clear is meant to represent the player clearing all stages of a game (and subsequently, clearing the entire game itself in most cases). Throughout the various Contra titles, the name of the title has changed multiple times.

Notes[]

  • The original Famicom version of Contra features an "all stage clear" fanfare called "All Pattern Clear" ("All PCLR" in the hidden Sound Mode)[1] when the final boss is defeated, which is an arrangement of the "Contra" jingle. However, the export versions of the game were heavily stripped down in other countries in order to lower production costs, suffering changes such as the removal of cutscenes, animations, and music tracks. In the export versions of the game, the standard "Stage Clear" tune is played after defeating the final boss instead.
  • In Super Contra, a special fanfare not heard anywhere else in the game, called "Pattern Clear No.2", is played in the final stage after defeating the Suspicious Face boss, in order to trick the player into believing they have completed the game. However, a few moments later, the real final boss, Gava, enters the screen. When defeated, the standard "Stage Clear" jingle is played instead.
    • While this doesn't happen after defeating the Suspicious Face in the NES conversion of the game, Super C, the same special fanfare is instead played after defeating the new final boss, Kimkoh, marking the completion of the game.
    • In Super C for the Commodore Amiga, which is a more direct conversion of the original arcade version of Super Contra, "Pattern Clear No.2" replaces the iconic "Pattern Clear No.1" ("Stage Clear") as the default boss defeat fanfare of the game and plays at the end of all stages after defeating each area boss.
